Determining Existence of Impotency
Determining impotence is not an easy task. It requires some amount of knowledge and expertise-that of the right doctor. It also requires knowing what kinds of questions you can ask so you can get the answers you need.
Questions to Ask
When visiting your doctor you may have several questions. Your partner may also have some questions to ask, so both of you in the relationship should be there.
Questions to ask include the following:
- Is the problem an underlying medical condition or is it a psychological disorder?
- What is the cause of my not being able to achieve or maintain an erection?
- Why are my erections not hard enough to be placed inside my partner?
- What are the psychological effects of impotence?
- What are the signs that a person has erectile dysfunction?
- What tests are taken to determine the cause of impotency?
- What types of erectile dysfunction or impotency treatments are available?
- Are there medications used to treat this problem, and how safe is it to use them?
- What types of treatment for sexual dysfunction are most effective?
- How do I know what kind of treatment is best for me?
- Do attending sex therapy sessions help?
- What are the newest forms of impotency treatment?
- What is neuropathic ED treatment?
The Answers
The answers you receive from a doctor will vary. For instance, if you are questioning about whether or not prescription medications such as Viagra, Levitra, or Cialis will help you can ask your doctor about these.
As far as an answer, you may be told in some instances that none of these will work for you. For instance, one major concern is using Viagra with nitrate medications as the two should not be combined. There may be a variety of other heart, allergy, or anti-depressant medications that may not be mixed with these solutions either.
If prescription medications will not be the best course of treatment for you there may be others. For instance, you may be introduced to self-injections, urethral suppositories, or vacuum devices.
You may also be told about how to work your “schlong” using a variety of penis exercises. Not all doctors approve of these though so you should talk to him/her about them.
You may also be introduced to surgical approaches. This may be the option for you if other treatments as mentioned above do not work for you.
